WRITE OR DIE

Welcome to the second week of NaNo. Are your characters on a beach somewhere sipping margarita's when they should be dodging fireballs or at a board meeting with Medusa? Is the conversation at your write in more distracting than you thought it would be? Or have the words stopped coming? Let me introduce you to Write or Die and Write or Die 2.

Per the explanation of the website: Write or Die is an application for Windows, Mac and Linux which aims to eliminate writer's block by providing consequences for procrastination.

And by consequences it means: red flashing screens, loud siren noises and in one of the modes, if you stop typing- IT EATS YOUR WORDS.

Write or Die now experiments with the opposite side of the coin and is much more pleasant to look at and rewards you rather than punish your for inactivity.

For me, Write or Die 2 isn't as intimidating so it makes it easier to use. I'm already on a time crunch, if I wanted a drill Sargent standing over my shoulder screaming at me to write - I'll go to boot camp.

So here's the link to Write or Die 2.

If you're having issues with plot or ideas and need a boost, usually the MLs at your local write in have plot jars or challenges. And if you're stressing out because of NaNo or if life is getting in the way of your writing - I still recommend going to your local write in. The hilarity that ensues at those things will be enough to jar the words loose.

Keep on writing!
